DR DAVID HOARE
B.Vet.Med.MRCVS
Dr David Hoare graduated from the Royal Veterinary
College in London in March 1970. He was in general
practice (Small Animal, Agricultural & Equine) until 1997
and a Partner in that practice since 1973. David emigrated
to Australia in October 1997 and started work at Port
Kennedy Veterinary Hospital in November 1997. Seeing the
practice’s potential David bought the hospital in April 1999.
David last worked as a general Veterinarian in 2006, but
maintains a keen interest in modern therapies and the
maintenance of excellence in the hospital. Currently the
Business Manager of Port Kennedy Veterinary Hospital,
David was delighted to sell half of the practice to Dr
Margret Horsley in December 2012.
DR MARGRET HORSLEY
BSC BVMS (Hons) MACVSc
Dr Maggs Horsley graduated in 2000 from Murdoch. Prior to
graduation, Maggs was a veterinary nurse who qualified in
the UK in 1991. Upon graduation, she worked in private
practice for 6 months, before moving to MPEC, where she
worked for 4 years, running the emergency centre for her
final 2 years there. Maggs then performed locums around
the Perth area for 12 months, before staying here at Port
Kennedy, where she now is clinic manager and part owner.
Maggs obtained her MACVSc in Emergency Medicine and
Critical Care in 2005.
Maggs' interests lay in Small animal medicine and emergency with a special interest in cat medicine.
In Maggs' spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling and cooking.
DR MARK PENHALE
BSc BVMS
Dr Mark Penhale comes from a long family tradition of
veterinarians including both his father and grandfather. He
graduated from Murdoch in 1991 and went into mixed
animal practice in country WA, where he worked from
Kunnunurra and Karratha down to Katanning and Albany.
His varied career has included stints at Perth Zoo, Murdoch
University and work in the UK and Asia.
Mark's special interests include wildlife, radiology, surgery and dentistry.
Mark's love of teaching, has seen him spend much of his free time in recent years teaching vets in India, Indonesia and Africa.
In Mark's spare time her enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, as well as combining one his special interests, radiology with art, leading to some art exhibitions.
DR RACHEL BRIDGER
BSc BVMS (Hons)
Dr Rachel Bridger graduated from Murdoch in 1999 with first class honours. She worked in mixed animal practice upon graduation, before changing to small animal medicine.
Rachel has a special interest in Ophthalmology. Rachel's special interest has led her to teaching ophthalmology to final year vet students at Murdoch University.
Rachel has a love of both animals and travel and has combined the two by volunteering in various veterinary programs, particularly in India, Africa and more recently Indonesia.
In her spare time, Rachel enjoys spending time with her family, traveling and partaking in yoga.
DR BRONWYN FAVER
BSc BVMS
Dr. Bronwyn Faver graduated from Murdoch University in 2000 and began her career in mixed animal practice in Western Australia. Her work has taken her across Western Australia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom before settling at Port Kennedy Veterinary Hospital. Bronwyn has a strong interest in small animal medicine and dermatology and is committed to providing compassionate, high-quality care to every patient. She also enjoys participating in outreach programs that offer spay and neuter services in remote communities, helping to improve animal welfare beyond the clinic.
Outside of work, Bronwyn enjoys spending time with her two children, family, and friends. She loves bushwalking, birdwatching, reading, and catching up on the latest movies. At home, she shares her life with her dog and two cats, who keep her entertained and remind her daily why she loves her profession.
DR NICOLE MCSEVENEY
BSc DVM
Dr Nicole McSeveney graduated from Murdoch University in 2018. Having worked with the Port Kennedy team as a student, Nicole was thrilled to continue her journey with the clinic as a qualified veterinarian.
Nicole has a special interest in surgery, particularly in soft tissue and orthopaedics. She is dedicated to ongoing professional development, having completed advanced training in TPLO and small animal surgery, among other courses. Nicole is currently working towards attaining her Memberships in Small Animal Surgery. In addition, she holds a Fear Free Clinician Certificate, reflecting her commitment to creating a calm and positive experience for her patients.
Outside of work, Nicole enjoys spending time with friends, her beloved Dachshunds, and her cats. She also has a passion for collecting rare plants, travelling, entomology, reading, and exploring the outdoors.
DR JOSH SMITH
BSc DVM
Dr Josh Smith graduated from Murdoch University in 2019. Josh was delighted in receiving an offer to work for Port Kennedy Veterinary Hospital after working here during his studies.
Josh has an interest in Small Animal Medicine and thoroughly enjoys exploring the different avenues Veterinary Medicine has to offer.
In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family, friends and smoochy cat, Harrington. Josh also enjoys outdoor activities, travel and catching up with friends.
DR AMANDA WOO
BSc DVM
Dr Amanda Woo graduated from Murdoch University in 2022. Amanda attended Port Kennedy Vet Hospital during her studies for Work Placement and was delighted to be offered a job after graduation.
Amanda has an interest in Small Animal Medicine.
Amanda shares her home with her mischievous King Charles Cavalier, Louie. In her spare time she enjoys she reading, hiking, spending time her pet and friends.

MEGAN
QUALIFIED VETERINARY NURSE
Meg started working for Port Kennedy Veterinary Hospital in 2003 and is very experienced in all aspects of nursing. Meg is currently involved in the work experience programme, where she helps coordinate Animal Studies and Nursing students within the clinic.
Meg lives locally and shares a home with her wonderful husband, her two boisterous sons and her cat, Zim (previous Port Kennedy Stray adoptee).
In the little spare time she has, Meg likes to relax with her artistic endeavours or reading a good book.
KAROLINE
QUALIFIED VETERINARY NURSE
Karoline has been at the Port Kennedy Veterinary Hospital since 2005. She is experienced in all facets of Veterinary Nursing and has a special interest in Surgical Nursing. Karoline has furthered her knowledge by completing a Post Graduate Veterinary Nurse Technician course.
Karoline shares her home and her lifestyle, with her foster fail, Jack.
Karoline loves to spend her spare time in the outdoors whether its Jet skiing at the beach or camping in the bush.
BEVERLEY
QUALIFIED VETERINARY NURSE
Beverley has been at the Port Kennedy Veterinary Hospital since 2012. She is a qualified Veterinary
Technician originally from Canada and is experienced in all facets of Veterinary Nursing. Beverley has a special interest in Rehabilitation and Feline Medicine. Beverley is currently our ISFM Cat Friendly Clinic Ambassador.
Beverley shares her home with her husband, 3 boys, Deak and some feathered friends.
Beverley loves to support her family in their many sporting endeavours and enjoys time in her garden and with her beautiful pets.
KATRINA
QUALIFIED VETERINARY NURSE & PET GROOMER
Katrina joined Port Kennedy Vets in 2004 as a qualified veterinary nurse. Previously she was employed at Cat Haven in Shenton Park in the kennels of the rescue shelter. Shortly after commencing work at Port Kennedy Veterinary Hospital, Katrina also undertook training to become a qualified Pet Groomer.
Katrina shares her home with her husband, son , their dogs Duke and Callie and a
posse of cats.
Katrina enjoys the gym in her spare time and outings with her family.
NIKKI
QUALIFIED VETERINARY NURSE
Nikki has an extensive background in customer service and administrative duties. She started work with Port Kennedy Veterinary Hospital in March 2011 after being selected to start a Veterinary Nursing Traineeship with the hospital. Nikki has since completed her studies and is now a fully qualified Veterinary Nurse.
She shares her home with her partner and two beautiful daughters. Nikki has a mischievous two dogs Max and Delilah and has given a loving home to two of our older stray cats, Millie & Nova.
Nikki enjoys reading a good book, swimming and spending time with her beautiful daughters and pets.
RIETTA
QUALIFIED VETERINARY NURSE
Riëtta is originally from South Africa and only recently came to Australia in 2013. She started out as a
work experience student at Port Kennedy Vets and graduated at the end of 2014 as a qualified veterinary nurse. At the end of her studies she leaped at the opportunity to become a member of the Port Kennedy Veterinary Hospital team. Riëtta has a special interest in exotic nursing and behaviour medicine.
Riëtta loves spending her spare time horse riding, reading, playing computer games and spending time with her friends.
GEORGIA
QUALIFIED VETERINARY NURSE
Georgia first attended Port Kennedy Veterinary Hospital in 2014 as a work experience student while
completing her Certificate II in Companion Animal Services. In mid-2014, Georgia was offered a Traineeship and jumped at the opportunity to complete her Certificate IV in veterinary nursing while working at the hospital. Georgia has since completed her Traineeship (2016) and working as a qualified veterinary nurse. Georgia also runs the weight loss programme for our chunkier patients.
Georgia loves spending her spare time with friends and family and travelling.
LOREN
QUALIFIED VETERINARY NURSE AND PET GROOMER
After bringing her fur kids to Port Kennedy Veterinary Hospital for the past 8 years, Loren was
delighted to join the team as Trainee Veterinary Nurse and Grooming Assistant. Loren has since finished her traineeship (2017) and continue on with Port Kennedy Veterinary Hospital as a qualified nurse and groomer. Loren is currently undertaking further study in Emergency Nursing.
Loren lives in Port Kennedy with her husband and their two very loved adopted Jack Russell Terriers,
Russ and Meg.
Loren enjoys spending her spare time socialising with lovely friends, decorating and nice walks with her dogs.
Tracy
RECEPTIONIST
Tracy was a long-term client of Practice with her many pets, who started working with us as a part time Receptionist in September 2021, bringing with her 30+ years of experience working in secretarial, admin and reception roles in the UK and WA.
Tracy shares her home with her husband, Lee and rescue pets; Ruby the Calico cat and 2 dogs, Parker, Bully mix and recent addition to the family Jackson, Rottweiler x Mastiff. Tracy is a keen advocate for rescue animals.
SYLVIA
KENNEL HAND AND PUPPY PRE-SCHOOL TRAINER
Sylvia started working at the hospital in 2013 as the clinics Kennel Hand, and is a qualified trainer in pet dog training and agility. Not to mention supplies all the clinics needs in cakes and baked goodies.
Sylvia shares her home with her two working Border Collies, Jay and Bobby, whom she trials in agility
competitions and herding, with both her boys being highly successful.
Agility and more dog training and somehow still manages to fit in her position as volunteer trainer for Assistance Dogs Australia, running a “Pups in Prison” program at Wooroloo Prison. This program teaches inmates how to train assistance dogs.

Ella
VETERINARY STUDENT AND WEEKEND RECEPTIONIST
Ella was delighted to be offered a receptionist position at Port Kennedy Vets in 2024. She is
currently completing her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at Murdoch University and is due to
graduate in 2028. Her favourite aspect of the job is working alongside and learning from such
incredible vets and nurses, and also gaining exposure to interesting clinical cases during her studies.
Upon graduation, Ella hopes to pursue mixed practice, combining her love of veterinary medicine with travel and volunteering. She has a special interest in wildlife and conservation medicine.
In her spare time, Ella enjoys horse riding, surfing, hiking and spending time with friends.
NICOLA
VETERINARY SUTDENT AND WEEKEND RECEPTIONIST
Nicola joined the Port Kennedy Veterinary Hospital team in mid 2022 as a Work Experience Student before joining the weekend reception team. She is currently studying for her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at Murdoch University, due to graduate in 2026.
Nicola has a particular interest in small animal and exotic medicine. She shares her home with a senior mini lop rabbit, Theo.
In her downtime she enjoys camping, sewing, and spending time with friends and family.
RHIAN
VETERINARY SUTDENT AND WEEKEND RECEPTIONIST
Rhian is originally from Singapore but has grown up mostly in Perth. She is currently completing her degree in Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at Murdoch University, which she is due to complete by the end of 2025. Rhian joined the Port Kennedy Team in 2022. She has developed a strong interest in wildlife after volunteering at wildlife hospitals and fear-free handling.
Although Rhian currently doesn’t have any pets, she enjoys spending her spare time dog walking and occasionally pet sitting. She also enjoys travelling and learning new languages
